The Blount County Rescue Squad is a non-profit United Way Agency that has been serving the citizens of Blount County since 1957. BCRS is staffed completely by volunteers. We provide vehicle extrication, water rescue services, such as dive and swift water rescues, as well as technical rescue using ropes and other hardware for rescues in mountainous or steep terrain. We also respond to and coordinate searches in the county in the event of a lost or missing person. We operate as a first response agency for medical emergencies and provide lifting assistance to those who have no medical emergency but occasionally need a helping hand up. We offer free medical standby for area schools and sporting events, community clubs, and other events countywide. These services are provided to you free of charge by our highly trained all-volunteer staff.
Vehicle fire 7-29-10, around 1 AM. The vehicle on the left apparently had a full tank of fuel, had to get foam to assist in extinguishment. was a Mercedes, and apparently also had a lot of magnesium in the engine compartment and dash. The pickup also had a fair amount of magnesium in the dash/steering column area that provided some fireworks. Visit our website at www.ricetownfire.org or Find us on Facebook
This is part 1 of a series of behind the scenes-videos of a shooting for a firefighter calendar with the FD Grossgoltern near Hanover in Germany – 12 sets in just two days… They were all real firefighters, no professional models. i did this with a lot of SB-800 and SB-900, the Elinchrom Quadra and the Nikon D3. Have fun, Part 2 is in the pipeline (did you ever see models spit on a photographer?)

New York City Firefighters get paid well to do their jobs. Long Island firefighters don’t get paid. So why would they volunteer to risk their lives?
