Shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday Sept 24, Baltimore County Fire Department units were alerted to a reported person in the water at the Greenspring Quarry on Greenspring Avenue (Box 14-13). Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company 32s technical rescue team responded with Squad 322, Tower 323 and Utillity 329 with staffing of 10 volunteers. First arriving BCoFD Engine 14 (Brooklandville career) assumed command and reported the subject had jumped down a cliff approximately 150 feet down and was at the base of the water. Firefighters from stations 14, 17 (Texas career) and 32 set up a rescue haul system, with crews from Station 17 (Urban Search and Rescue Team) rappelling down to the patient. After about an hour, using a stokes basket rescue operation, firefighters assisted the subject up the cliff as well as one civilian who attempted to make the rescue prior to the fire department arrival.
