Caldwell, Idaho — Canyon County sheriffs are investigating a fire that left several Caldwell families homeless. The flames started just after 8 pm at the Farmway Apartments Friday. Firefighters are calling the blaze suspicious, meaning arson can’t be ruled out. “The flames were really shooting high and I know that there were a lot of people who lived down in those apartments,” said “The SuperDupe”(real name hidden), who filmed the fire. The blaze started just after 8 pm and quickly engulfed the top floor of the complex. Flames shot high into the air and could be seen from the freeway. Today the structure lies in ruins, with yellow caution tape surrounding it. Two apartments are a total loss and two others were damaged by smoke and water. Canyon County sheriffs are still investigating the fire. Firefighters say they believe the fire was likely intentional. “The fire appears to have started on the outside. It is suspicious in nature,” said Shane Arak, a Caldwell firefighter. Neighbors are just relieved everyone got out safely. Firefighters say the housing authority is allowing the families left homeless to stay in some empty apartments. And the Red Cross is helping them get back on their feet. “I feel so bad for them tonight, I just want to invite them all to sleep at my home tonight.”
