
Town of Vernon CT firefighters work at a two alarm fire in a large duplex at 42 Elm Street in the Rockville section of Vernon, Sunday, March 29, 2009. This is an older section of town populated by large balloon construction, multiple unit apartment buildings. The fire broke out at around 12:15 and took well over an hour to bring under control. Two residents were treated by the Vernon Fire Department Ambulance Corp with minor smoke inhalation. Vernon Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack through out the fire that started on the first floor and extended up to the 2nd floor and into the attic. The Ellington Fire Dept. assisted at the scene while other departments covered Vernon’s open stations. Vernon is part of the Tolland County Fire Mutual Fire Service. House on fire in Rockville, Maryland. April 10, 2010 The fire that started in the sun room spread rapidly throughout the large home and in less than 10 minutes the entire house was engulfed in flames. The family (including the dogs) that lives in the house managed to escape unscathed as the fire ravaged the house. Six large fire fighters trucks and a command vehicle arrived in a few minutes and battled the blaze for over 4 hours after that they turned off the gas supply and electric power to the house. The house and its contents were destroyed by the inferno that damaged the neighboring house.
