A house caught fire near Columbia, Marion County Iowa. No one was injured, and the cause is unknown. Columbia Fire Department, Knoxville Rural, Marion County Sheriff’s office, and Marion County Emergency Management responded.

This is a fire at BCB, a Hazardous Waste company which is situated 500 yards from homes in the beautiful and historic village of Tockwith in North Yorkshire. It appears that eleven fire engines and over 30 fire fighters were needed to deal with the blaze. Poisonous fumes were blown in the direction of the local school and close to homes in the village. This is the third time this year that the emergency services have been called to deal with incidents like this. As one fire fighter on the scene was overheard to say in frustration “I’m sick of being called to rescue BCB”. Ironically, BCB have been seeking permission to build a large incinerator on the site that will allow them to set fire to the very chemicals they are unable to control. The people of Tockwith and surrounding towns and villages are living in fear that when BCB screw up next time, people won’t be so lucky. For more information go to www.tockwith.net Thanks

At 10:59pm Upper Saucon Company 27 was dispatched for a vehicle fire on I-78 in the west/bound lane. On arrival, companies found a fully involved tractor and trailer. This was the 2nd tractor trailer fire on the interstate within hours of each. Two truck fires on the same highway but at each end of the county. What a night it was for motorist traveling the highway.

A Military vehicle fire this morning around 11:20 am had both west bound lanes of the Trans Canada Highway blocked off for about a half a hour. Salisbury Fire Department responded to the fire at mile marker 445 between Berrys Mills & Magnetic Hill exits of the TCH just on the outskirts of Moncton. District 11 RCMP also responded to the call. There were a couple of other military vehicles further back from the fire and they were blocking the highway waiting for the Fire department to arrive. The vehicle burnt for 15 minutes before Firefighters put water to the fire. Moncton Fire Department also responded to the fire with Engine 5 but it wasn’t needed. Cst Bedard was the RCMP officer that attended the Fire scene. It was raining lightly but didn’t help with the fire. Moncton Fire Department would have been alot closer to this call then Salisbury.
