Crews from stations 1 and 2 were dispatched to a reported fire alarm at 622 east 92nd ave, before anyone was en route pd advised heavy smoke showing from a single family dwelling and a working fire. At that time mutual aid and stations 3 and 4 were toned out. All residents were accounted for and nobody was hurt at the fire scene. Investigators reported multiple points of origin and the house was badly damaged by flood waters. Other reports say the homeowners did not have flood insurance.

Porter FD was dispatched to a reported house fire wit the residents evacuated and the pets still inside. 901 being 1st on scene he advised of a working fire and struck a first alarm. Multiple lines were used inside and out to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported on the scene

GFD was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the rear of a former bank at 5th and Broadway. On arrival Engine 1 advised of light smoke showing. After an extensive search the fire was located in the basement which was almost impossible to access. Two lines were stretched and the fire was brought under control. An additional two engines and an ambulance were requested to the scene due the amount of work to be done. Crews remained on scene for well over an hour and nobody was injured at the fire scene

GFD toned out for a reported still alarm house fire at 5109 east 13th Place just after midnight on 2-14-09. I arrived on scene just before Engine 7 and found out the house was vacant.Engine 7 pulled a line and advanced through the front door, the fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control. As soon as Battalion 7 (Fred Gillmore) saw me I was asked to leave the scene. All other companies were returned as I was leaving. Nobody was injured at the scene that I know of and fire Investigators were on scene working.

GFD toned out for a reported still alarm at 4013 Jackson, on arrival Engine 5 advised heavy smoke showing. Multiple lines were advanced to the front and rear of the house. After the fire was knocked down in the front crews attacked the fire in the rear, soon after the front flashed. Crews quickly knocked the fire down and protected all exposures. Nobody was hurt and investigators were on scene working

LSFD was dispatched to a reported truck vs car mva with rollover, on arrival both victims were self extricated. One person had minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Lake Station Firefighters were on scene for about 45 minutes cleaning-up.

Around midnight GFD was toned out for a still alarm at 29th and Calhoun, on arrival Truck 13 advised of a working fire in a large two story commercial building and requested a box alarm. A repo guy sitting in his truck in the area saw a male run-up to the building and throw a firebomb into the building. After access was made crews fought the fire from every angle with multiple lines. Crews were on scene for over an hour and fire investigators responded. Nobody was injured at the fire scene

Lake Station EMS were requested for a head-on crash at Liverpool Rd and Hampton, a 2nd ambulance was requested on arrival along with Fire Department Personal for multiple victims. The driver of the black Alero crossed the yellow lines crashing into a Lake County Sheriff squad. Nobody was pinned, but the Sheriffs officer was transported to Saint Marys Medical Center via Als ambulance. The 2nd victim was transported by Bls.

Fire crews from Highland and Griffith FD’s battled a stuborn basement fire that destroyed a 1 story brick ranch at 3025 Garfield, all residents got out in time. Multiple lines were pulled and the master stream was used to knock the fire down. Crews remained on scene for several hours and investigators were on scene working. Nobody was injured at the fire scene

Just after 5:30am Union FD and South Haven FD were dispatched to a reported pole barn on fire at 400 North and 475 West, a mile out from the scene command requested a tanker plan 1 due to a large visible header. The first due engine which was South Haven backed down the driveway and an in-line drop was made along with a dump tank. A tanker shuttle was iniated and an aggressive attack was made. Although a large portion of the building had collapsed before water was on the fire, crews kept the fire in check and away from surrounding exposures. Nobody was injured at the fire scene
