GFD was dispatched to a reported still alarm in the 2200 block of Stephenson, Engine 9 was first on scene conducting an investigation. Within seconds a working house fire was found in a one story occupied single family dwelling. Two lines were pulled and Truck 4 opened the roof. Nobody was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

FD was dispatched to a reported house fire with live ammunition stored around the same time Hebron was wrapping up a 2nd alarm fire, Route 6 was closed immediately for obvious conditions. Mutual aid was requested from multiple surrounding departments. Crews were on scene for about 2 hours

GFD was dispatched to the 2300 Block of Connecticut at 2:48 pm on 10-24-08. Truck 4 was first on scene and reported heavy smoke showing and a working fire in a 25×50 brick vacant single family dwelling. The rear porches that were wood took off and extended into the house. Fire was blowing through the roof soon after and the truck was set-up. Multiple lines were stretched out and an interior attack was made. Nobody was hurt at the scene and crews worked for about an hour and a half.

Just after 1:30 am GFD was dispatched to a reported rollover wit entrapment and a vehicle fire, on arrival Engine 5 advised there was no fire and the victim was not pinned. The vehicle veered off the road striking a concrete bench, a brick flower bed, and coming to rest on it’s side against the Gary Public Library at 40th and Broadway. The victim was transported to Methodist North Lake in serious condition.

GFD was dispatched to a working house fire in the 3100 Block of Gerry, on arrival Truck 13 advised of smoke showing. Engine 3 and 9 supplied their tank water until Lake Ridge Tanker 3 arrived on scene to assist, there were no hydrants found in the area. Gary Engine 4 was also requested to assist. Nobody was injured at the fire scene and all residents made it out in time

Crews were dispatched to a reported house fire at 48th and Vermont, on arrival GFD found a house with fire blowing through the roof of a 25×40 frame single family dwelling. After knocking the fire down with a deck gun crews made an interior attack with multiple hand lines. It took some time to bring the fire under control and one firefighter suffered minor burns. Fire investigators were called to the scene.

The South Haven Fire Department was dispatched to 791 Baltimore, on dispatch a working fire was confirmed with people trapped on the 2nd floor. While en route dispatch reported jumpers from the 2nd floor balcony and a 1st alarm was requested. The first unit on scene reported a fully involved 2nd floor apartment and all companies went to work as they got on scene. Multiple lines were stretched and two people were transported via ems to an area hospital. One injury was critical due to the jump from the 2nd floor balcony resulting in two broken legs, fire investigators were requested to the scene. None of the Firefighters were injured at the fire scene

LSFD was dispatched to a reported house fire at 2456 Wayne, LSPD first on scene reported heavy smoke showing and some flames coming from the basement. Neighbors reported animals in the house to the Police, LSFD made a quick attack and saved a cat from the house fire. Investigators were on scene working on cause and origin. Nobody was hurt at the fire scene
