The Holtsville Fire Department was called to a commercial structure. When the first arriving chief arrived on scene he stated that there were 3 fully involved tractor tailers on fire not near the structure. First arriving Engine 6 stretched a 2 1/2″ line and a 1 3/4″ line to attack the fire. There were problems with the water supply at the hydrant so operations were paused after the fire had been hit for about 3-4 minutes. Leaking diesel fuel also presented a problem as it spilled into a storm drain. Operations continued after water supply was established and Engine 6 refilled its tank. After about 1 hour and a half the fire was extinguished and under control. The fire department responded with Engine 6, Engine 3, Engine 5, Ladder 7, Fire Police 9 and Ambulance 17. All 3 chiefs were on scene. All units were back in service a little after 5am.
