Hobart FD was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of 2nd and East in the early morning hours of March 1st. PD being first on scene advised of a working fire in a vacant commercial building, due to a train some fire units were delayed in their response. First crews on scene made an aggressive interior attack and brought the fire under control in 30 minutes. Nobody was injured at the fire scene and investigators were requested to the scene.

The call came out around dawn on 8-10-10 for a reported apartment building fire with people jumping from the 2nd story in the area of 38th and Shelby. First arriving companies confirmed heavy smoke showing and an initial attack line was advanced into the building. EMS and police immediately started tending to multiple …victims as additional resources were requested from Portage, Lake Station, and New Chicago. It took crews just over an hour to bring the fire under control. The cause is currently under investigation.

Hobart FD and PD were alerted to a rollover with possible injuries at around 2:30 on 10-16-09. On arrival PD units determined the driver fled the scene, possibly into a cornfield. A Hobart k-9 unit responded to assist in searching for the victim. While pd units searched for the victim a tow truck from Cars towing uprighted the vehicle. HFD was dispatched to a reported house fire on Quail Drive in the early morning hours of July 5th, pd units being first on scene advised of a fully engulfed house. When I got there the house was not fully engulfed and fireworks were still going off next to the residence on fire so I would guess fireworks started the first one. About an hour later HFD was dispatched to a fully engulfed detached garage with exposures to a house on Home Ave. Crews made quick knocks on both fires and no injuries were reported

I caught this Video outside of my apartment complex at approximately 11pm. This fire is reported to have been caused by a grill located on the first floor. There were no injuries sustained but the tenants of these apartments lost everything.

FD crews were dispatched to a reported fast moving fire on the rear balcony of a 3 story multi-unit apartment building. On arrival crews advised of a working fire to the rear of the building. Crews made an aggressive interior attack, but were forced out within minutes. The fire progressed into the roof and breeze way consuming the entire building. Crews from Lake Station, New Chicago, Portage, and South Haven assisted and no injuries were reported. Fire investigators were working on the cause, initial reports showed outdoor cooking may have started the fire

FD crews were dispatched to a report of heavy smoke in the rear of an occupied house, before FD members arrived on scene the residents had escaped. On arrival Engine 3 advised of heavy smoke showing and fire soon engulfed the whole first floor. In a short amount of time the fire had extended to the 2nd floor and through the roof. An offensive attack was made and multiple lines were used to bring the fire under control. Nobody was injured at the scene.

Crews were dispatched via a third party call for a reported structure fire, Quint 3 being 1st on scene advised of heavy fire showing from a 2nd floor apartment and fire through the roof. Command quickly determined additional EMS and fire personnel were needed. EMS from Lake Station, Portage, and Gary were requested along with Lake Station FD. Multiple injuries were reported, but they were all non-life threatening. Investigators were on scene working
