So my friends and I were walking around and saw smoke in the sky. At first we thought that they were clouds but then it started to like rain ash so we decided to investigate. We went back in the woods and about 1 mile back we found the forrest fire. At first we thought it was a controlled burn but then the fire started advancing so then we decided to call 911. We started to whack the fire with baby pine trees than the firefighters came. After about 3 hours of fighting the fire this volunteer fire fighter was like “you gotta get out THE FIRE WILL KILL YOU!” but when we tried to get through the guy was like “THE BURNING TREES WILL FALL ON YOU AND YOU WILL DIE GO BACK TO BURNT CHURCH ROAD DOWN 46 THEN GET ON TO 278 AND GET BACK FROM THERE!” But that was like a long way away so we snuck past and went back to the road. But then everyone was blaming us for causing the forrest fire when we were the ones that saved all of their houses. If it weren’t for us no one would have called the fire department and their houses would all be burned down!

Special Thanks to the El Paso County Volunteer Wildland Fire Fighter Crew that both trained us and let us be part of their team.

SPOT-55 is a special tracked fire fighting vehicle mounted on the chassis of T-55 tank manufactured at the Military Repair Corporation 025 in Nový Jičín. It is designed to fight any kind of fire in difficult terrain and in industrial conglomerations (besides forests, it can be engaged in power plants, oil refineries, surface mines or at gas pipelines). This system has two water tanks to hold 11000 litres. The central tank can keep 9000 litres and the side tank up to 2000 litres. A foam tank can contain 2000 litres of frothing agent generated within the vehicle. Moreover, it is equipped with two powder extinguishers. The front part of the vehicle is equipped with two high-pressure revolving streamlines, while three hand streamlines can be attached to the rear part of the vehicle. When engaged at a fire, the body of the vehicle is cooled by water fog driven out of numerous pressure jets on the vehicle surface. During operation water can be re-supplied by a pump pulling from a depth of 7.5 metres. Another possible means of water supply are two water tanks connected to the rear of the vehicle or the connection of the SPOT-55 vehicle to two fire cocks or water hydrants. The crew of two inside the vehicle is protected against heat, radioactive contamination and fallout. The vehicle is equipped with TV a system, three radio stations and a local telephone circuit. The SPOT-55, capable of being remote-controlled up to the distance of 1500 metres, is used by rescue and fire fighter

This is a partial video with Gaston College flashover simulator along with Mayland Community College at Linville VFD. A great training weekend: Friday night was classroom night, Saturday 5/17/08 was the flashover and other lifesaving skills. Saturday the class also had donning of SCBA (that was far from ready to be worn) while in full turnout gear (and those gloves) in total blackout conditions. Another skill was to follow the line through an obstacle course. The course did have you call a mayday and set off the alarm and so forth when a floor collapsed (and many other things). The afternoon ended with a 2nd burn. Working with a RIT bag to moving a fellow firefighter (heavy dummy) while there was real fire overhead. Sunday 5/18/08 was at the Spruce Pine fire training ground of Mayland Community College.
