Fourteen first-year medical residents at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor participated in a vehicle extrication exercise at the Brighton Area Fire Department in Brighton, Mich., on July 16, 2010. The idea was to give the emergency room doctors an idea of what firefighters do to extricate victims from vehicle crashes.
