Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 7:15pm New Zion Baptist Church Van Driver, Joey McKan had a seizure causing the van to leave the road and strike a culvert. 11 Passengers were on board, 5 died and 6 others were injured. State and Local Emergency Agencies responded. (Louisiana State Police, Oak Grove Police Department, Oak Grove Fire Department, West Carroll Sheriffs Office, and Volunteer Fire Departments
In the early morning hours of Thursday November 18th, the second major fire was being dispatched in Schuylkill County to the Blue Mountain Christian Retreat located at 1 Christian Lane in West Penn Township. Tankers from 3 counties converged on the scene to provide water. The massive building was fully involved by the time companies arrived. Most tankers were coming in from the major warehouse fire in Schuylkill Haven. The ATF is investigating the blaze. This was the second of three major fires to hit Schuylkill County this morning. The third which was not covered by Newsworking, was a three alarm fire in New Philadelphia. The fire destroyed 7 homes and killed 2 civilians. This was the 3rd major house fire in this town within a few months.

Station 20′s 1st Due area for a working house fire. Potomac Fire Company Engine/Tanker 22 for the RIT assignment. Working alarm was dispatched ET 22′s crew bumped up to assist with fire supression. 22 crew checked the basement area for fire. Also assigned to the 1st Floor. The crew found fire in the kitchen area, caught on the helmet camera. Fire appeared to be on the rear porch extended into both sides of the residence and the rear porch roof.

new information tonight on a fire at a vacant downtown albuquerque church. afd now says someone intentionally set fire to the building. the fire broke out at the first baptist church near central and broadway around midnight. investigators also told us late this evening the damage is estimated at around a quarter of a million dollars. there was heavy smoke and and fire minute thumbnail 10:09 pm damage to the first three floors of the four-story building. aps had planned to buy the church and turn it into a performing arts magnet school. the city was also interested in using at least part of the prerty for a proposed downtown arena development. today both aps and the city told us the fire could impact their plans. afd says there are no suspects in the arson right now.

Minutes before 1100hrs, Laurys Station Company 12 was dispatched to 5125 Church Drive for a house fire. One caller reported fire from garage and heavy smoke pouring from windows. With that report, the second alarm was struck. Laury’s Engine 12 arrived and reported a working fire. First-in engine crew stretched a hand-line to the garage and darkened down the fire, while Lehigh Twp. Engine 47 brought in a water supply. Ladder Co. 16 went to the roof to open up, but by then the flames were venting from the roof. Command struck a third alarm. One firefighter was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, possibly heat related. The fire was under control in about an hour.
