Birmingham Fire & Rescue Battalion 1 responding to a child struck in West Birmingham.

11.21.08 – 250 S. Levan St. smoke on the 3rd floor of apartment building with audible alarms and multiple calls. Upon arrival to this gated community, the gate is supposed to open when it hears a siren, however, this night it was malfunctioning and we couldn’t get in. Gated communities are great for safety but when the gate doesn’t open for the emergency vehicles, safety is compromised. Enjoy this ride along with Battalion chief 3 (Greg Scheirer). Also on the box was Engine 4, Engine 9, Engine 6, and truck 2.

ride along with the 7th battalion to a reported house fire. Several others units have been dispatched to this call, including Engine 251 from the Clinton volunteer fire department. The first arriving units could not find anything and cancelled all the others. It is amazing that nobody called the fire department on this one! Battalion 7 comes across the radio advising of a working house fire at 24th and Clay, on arrival first due Engine 12 grabbed a hydrant and made short work of the fire using two lines. Nobody was injured at the fire scene
