At 13:02 a box was transmitted for 817 N. Leh St. for a house fire. Ride with Engine 4 to the scene, while enroute, Engine 10 reports heavy smoke in the house.

Box 2317 was transmitted at 2215 hours for a house fire at the corner of 9th and Tilghman Streets. Engines 9, 4, 6, truck 2 and BN1 (Shott) respond. Engine 9 arrives and transmits a working fire at 641 N. 9th Street in a 2.5 story M/O/R, heavy fire venting 2nd floor front. Crews stretch 3 lines into the dwelling and make a quick attack, darkening down the fire in about 25 minutes. A supply was laid from 9th and Allen Streets about a block away. Primary searches came up negative. BN1 on the secondary advised that 5 people were unaccounted for. Secondary searches came up negative. Firefighters were on the scene for about 2 hours mopping up. 2nd alarm companies: Engines 10 (RIT), 13, 14, Air 1 and car 40 & 46

On Wednesday October 22, 2008 at 17:33 Allentown Comm Center transmitted a box for S. 4th and Brookdale St. with an address of 332 W. Brookdale St for a house fire. Engine 14, Engine 11, Engine 9, Truck 2 and Battalion 3 (G. Scheirer) responded on the box. While companies were enroute, comm center was receiving multiple calls and reports of people trapped on the second floor. Engine 14 arrived and reported a working fire and initiated a search along with Truck 2. Battalion 3 transmitted a 2nd alarm because of the volume of fire venting from the second floor rear windows and the possibility of rescue. Engine 4, Engine 10, Air 1, Car 40 (Chief R. Scheirer), FM4 and 2 medic units responded. The fire was knocked-down fairly quickly containing the fire to the second floor. All occupants escaped without injury. 23 firefighters battled the blaze.

At 02:58, Allentown transmitted box 2255 (7th & Liberty) for a building fire located at 501 N. 7th Street. Engines 4, 9, 8 (acting 6), truck 2 and Battalion 1 (Shott) are on the ticket. BN 1 arrives and transmits a “working fire” in a 3-story E/O/R with heavy fire on the second floor. Engine 4 stretches 2 lines. BN 1 transmits the second alarm as fire extends into the third floor. Engines 10, 14, 12 (acting 13) and Air 1 come in on the 2nd alarm . BN 1 special-called for an additional truck. In all, 3 lines are operating. The fire extends into the cockloft and crews hold the fire in the original fire building and prevent it from spreading to exposure B. The building housed a restaurant on the first floor and apartments on the top floors. All the residents were accounted for.

A late evening call for the building fire brings out AFD units to pine st. Upon arrival it was advised that they had a working fire on the top floor and roof area of an apartment building. A second alarm was requested and then the third when it was realized that the fire extended into the neighboring buidlling. The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes,

Box 2254 was transmitted at 22:55 hours for a house fire at 539 Pratt Street in center city. Engine companies 4, 9, 6, Truck 2 and Battalion 4 (Grim) respond. BN 4 arrives and has smoke from a vacant two-story duplex and transmits a “working fire”. Engine 4 stretches two lines in from North Law Street. Crews force entry and quickly darken down a fire in the basement. Shortly afterwards, firefighters detect an odor of natural gas and PD evacuates the immediate area. The fire is under investigation by the fire marshalls office.

Nester Video Productions did a ride along with Allentown Fire Departments 3rd Platoon on Saturday October 11, 2008. During the Day shift journey NVP ran Three calls with the crew from Engine 9. This first one started out the bay as a smoke investigation possible house fire on 8th Street nothing was found but as you will see in upcoming videos from this day it only got more interesting. The box was transmitted at 0120 hrs for smoke from the building at N. Maxwell and E. Tilghman Sts. Engines 13, 6, 9, Ladder Co. 2 and BC 2 (Lanshe) respond. Engine 13 arrives and finds smoke pushing from the roof of Audio Concepts at the southeast corner and signals a working fire.

On Tuesday November 11, 2008 Allentown 911 dispatched Engines 11, 14, 9 Truck 1 and Battalion 3 to the 1900 Blk of Delaware St for the reported Dwelling fire. On arrival heavy fire was showing from the rear and a Second Alarm was struck. As crews attempted to make an interior attack the fire quickly moved through multiple homes via a back porch and common roof. Fire command hit out the third alarm bringing in every available piece of fire apparatus in the city. The fire was brought under control in about an hour and a half, damaged 5 homes, and several firefighters suffered minor injuries. One of the homes destroyed belonged to an Allentown firefighter who was off duty and home at the time of the fire. Efforts are under way to raise Funds. Those wondering how they may help after Tuesdays devastating fire, a relief fund has been established to help Rick and his family.
