At 1500hrs Coplay and Whitehall were dispatched to 1131 Tapler Drive for a house fire. Upon arrival, chiefs found a service line to the house down over the street and heavy fire at the point where the electric service enters the house. Once crews managed to get a handline on the fire, it was quickly darkened down. Coplay Engine 511 was first on scene followed by Whitehall Engine 13. A 2nd alarm was struck for more manpower. Whitehall Engines 4, 14 and Truck 6 were on the ticket for the 2nd alarm. Truck 6 crew went to the roof to ventilate while interior crews ripped down ceilings and checked for extension. PPL was called to disconnect electric service to the house. The fire was out in about 30 minutes.

Catasauqua Station 2 was dispatched at 1615 hours to a house fire at 722 Race St. Chief 202 arrived on scene and found heavy fire in a 2 1/2 story S/F/D and signaled a working fire then struck the 2nd alarm. Engine 212 arrived and stretched a line to the front of the building and connected a water-supply at the corner of 14th and Race. Ladder Co. 231 took position on the ‘D’ side of the building on 14th Street and went to the roof to open up. Heavy fire was venting from all the windows on the first floor side ‘D’ and some upper windows. The bulk of the fire was darkened down on the initial hit from the entry team. Whitehall truck 6 positioned itself in the front of the building. The second alarm was struck at 1617 hours for North Catasaqua Engine 18, Whitehall Engine 1, Whitehall Engine 2 (RIT) and Coplay Air unit 5. Special- called to the scene was Whitehall Truck 6 and Engine 3 and Han-Le-Co Engine 33.

October 27, 1991. Puyallup, WA. This fire could have been prevented if the person who’s mattress had caught fire not leaned it against an exterior wall of the structure when it was removed. Thinking the mattress was extinguished, the fire smoldered and worked it’s way inside the wall and the rest is history. No injuries. Heavy damage.

5 ALARM FIRE QUEENS NY IN A 5 STORY FACTORY STYLE BUILDING.

At 08:35, Lehigh County 9-1-1 transmitted the box for a house fire with entrapment and multiple calls for 405 Center Avenue. Radio transmissions stated that one person was in the first floor and two children escaped through a second-floor window and stuck on the porch roof. The fire was initially reported as a kitchen fire. Crews arrived to find heavy fire throughout the 1st floor of a 2.5 story duplex. A second-alarm was transmitted at 08:39 bringing in a full response from 24 & 29, engines 611, 912, Greenawalds 11 for RIT and Macungie 66 for 6651. The fire rapidly extended to the second floor and attic through the walls. The fire traveled to the adjoining dwelling connected on the Bravo side of the initial fire building. With heavy extension into the exposure, 24 command transmitted the 3rd alarm at 10:00 hours. The two homes were completely destroyed in the blaze. Under Control was transmitted at 11:52 by 24 command. Companies assisting at the scene were 29, 9, 6, 11 (RIT), 16, 10, 66, 5 (AIR), 23, and Northampton County 47 (Lehigh Twp.).
