Mark Hundley is VBFD’s Firefighter of Year. Mark E. Hundley joined the VBFD 6/16/98. During his tenure here, Mark has achieved the rank of Master Fire Fighter, he is a member of Virginia Task Force 2, and is a Specialist with the Hazardous Materials Team. Mark, a mentor and leader, is also someone eager to challenge …himself in order to benefit others. Mark participated as a member of the Kayak team that paddled up the inter-coastal waterway from Florida to Virginia Beach to raise money for the Shriner’s Burn Hospital. In the station Mark shares his wealth of knowledge with anyone willing to listen. He has participated in multiple deployments as a member of VATF2 and functions as the Hazardous Materials Team Manager. Not only is Mark a valued employee to the Virginia Beach Fire Department, he is, and probably more importantly, a friend. He is dependable, trustworthy, and loyal.

Collis Grisby, Emprise Bank Firefighter Hero — Presented to a fire fighter who, in performing his or her job, acted above and beyond the call of duty Collis Grisby has been a firefighter with the Wichita Fire Department for nearly 17 years. He works at Station 12, which services southwest Wichita. Firefighter Grisby is not only skilled at fighting fires and responding to emergency situations, he also has the ability to provide compassionate care to people dealing with tragedies. Earlier his year, Firefighter Grisby and Engine 12 responded to a call of a patient not breathing. Upon arriving on the scene, Firefighter Grisby and other members of his team realized the patient was a two-month old infant. After assessing the child and performing lifesaving measures, it was determined that the infant could not be saved. Firefighter Grisby quickly jumped into action consoling the child’s parents who were under extreme distress. Even after other emergency responders arrived, the parents requested that Firefighter Grisby stay because of the emotional support he provided. Firefighter Grisby commonly responds in this way and prides himself on treating others with empathy and compassion. Collis Grisby receives the Emprise Bank Firefighter Hero Award for his commitment to the community through his acts of kindness, courage and unselfishness in his role as a firefighter.

Der Film zeigt die “Fire Fighter Jumper” der Jugendfeuerwehr aus Wülferode bei ihrem Auftritt in Celle zum “Tag der Niedersachsen” am 19.6.2010. Ich fand die Show so toll, das ich mich entschlossen habe, diesen engagierten jungen Leuten einen eigenen separaten Film zu widmen. Es war einfach hervorragend. Schön, das ihr hier bei uns in Celle dabeigewesen seid.
