Fire in London Road, Dorchester, Dorset. Shocking.
We were one of the first on the scene of a barn fire in Akron New York. We called 911 and tried to help out until the fire fighters arrived. Nobody was home but the next door neighbor was already busy moving farm vehicles out of harms way. He released about 100 head of cattle from a pen that was dangerously close to the burning barn. Minutes after he released the cattle from the pen straw in the pen erupted in flames from the searing heat. Hopefully this man whoever he was is awarded a medal of bravery for rescuing the animals and saving what equipment he could.

FDNY firefighters battled a stubborn 3-alarm fire in a row of stores in Springfield Gardens, Queens on Saturday, Sept. 19th. The Holtsville Fire Department was called to a commercial structure. When the first arriving chief arrived on scene he stated that there were 3 fully involved tractor tailers on fire not near the structure. First arriving Engine 6 stretched a 2 1/2″ line and a 1 3/4″ line to attack the fire. There were problems with the water supply at the hydrant so operations were paused after the fire had been hit for about 3-4 minutes. Leaking diesel fuel also presented a problem as it spilled into a storm drain. Operations continued after water supply was established and Engine 6 refilled its tank. After about 1 hour and a half the fire was extinguished and under control. The fire department responded with Engine 6, Engine 3, Engine 5, Ladder 7, Fire Police 9 and Ambulance 17. All 3 chiefs were on scene. All units were back in service a little after 5am.
