@96bcrs And I thought it was just me. But yeah, I think all of this is from “Oswald the Lucky rabbit- Sky Scrappers (1928)”

  2. 96bcrs says:

wait… this seems familiar, could it be ripped from… oswald?

@TheNumber1Engine if you watch the movie, “the reluctant Dragon”, it shows how they did that particular sound effect with the voice

I don’t really like that bunny Oswald, but I love this episode, I’m still amused of how violent these cartoons used to be, but they are amazing. Btw Minnie & Mickey are the cutest couple on earth!!

  6. TwilightLink77 says:

Yeah both Sky Scrapper and Building a Building also had Pete in it.

    ah the good old days

  11. Greatsaiyakirby says:

@smbmadman1 Good thing like his big brother Oswald, Mickey is quite tough and not easily hurt. :)

  12. Greatsaiyakirby says:

@munizcruz That’s not surprising, both were made by Walt Disney, Sky Scrappers some 5 years prior to this one. :)

  13. Greatsaiyakirby says:

Wow, for a cartoon this Mickey Mouse short is surprisingly violent, especially when Pete’s just wailing on Mickey, who’s just laying there and getting pummelled. I guess you can understand his earlier frustration as Mickey was goofing off repeatidly, but his stealing his lunch and then his girlfriend definitely puts Pete over the top as a villain.

I saw the Oswald short Sky Scrappers, and this Mickey one definitely borrrows from it, but it’s got enough original stuff to make it stand out. :)

I love it when Pete’s running with water pouring out the holes in his pants with the ironically cute jingle playing.

  19. juggernaut00 says:

For some reason I find it extremely amusing that Pete has a peg-leg and swears “You blankity blank baboon!”

    aww :3

  23. YearOfCam says:

For a comparison, check out the HQ version of ‘Sky Scrappers’ (Oswald 1928)

  24. YearOfCam says:

They did make these until the ’50s.
However — the real reason Disney discontinued them was basically that Mickey had been Oswald – i.e. the same character — and it’s easy to see that something was missing in the early Mickeys by comparison. In a way, the years from ’28 – ’53 were a kind of extended goodbye to the character.
(Good news, though – Oswald’s back at Disney after 80 years!)

  25. smbmadman1 says:

Why couldnt Disney keep going with these Mickey cartoons? The only thing I could count on is Toy Story nowadays
