Good Samaritan: Boy Rescued From Fire ‘Lucky’

25

A New York City man is being hailed a hero after he rushed to the scene of a burning building where a firefighter handed him a limp, unconscious 4-year-old. Using a curtain as a shield from falling debris, Horia Cretan carried the boy to safety. (Oct. 1)

Nobody is forgetting the fireman, he was mentioned by me even on Ellen’s show, but everybody seems to forget that, that footage is only half of what happened, and the smoke i battled when i broke the windows and actually went half way inside ,inhalling that smoke for 40 good seconds, that made me throw up afterwards, also the broken rib, and also the fact that if the baby would’ve died, i would’ve been in jail now, have i been a professional it would be ” he did the best he could, R.I P. Chris “

He pressed on his chest 3 times. that’s when the boy started to respond. it’s always about the firemen, but how many civilians do you see getting involved? without protection without anything? it’s not about risking your like, it’s about doing more and giving a helping hand..

It would have been nice to hear him give credit to the guys that actually ENTERED the building to retrieve the child. Not that Horia could have gone in without air, he would have been unconscious in seconds; but people are acting like he risked his life going up the fire escape. People don’t burn to death or suffocate on fire escapes. I’d hope that any able bodied bystander would do what he did, which was basically assist firefighters by carrying the boy down.

  9. stefansmom says:

well done Horia it takes guts to run into a fire and try to help when you don’t have the training that a firefighter or rescue person has…god bless you and again well done!

Nice grab by the fireman. He didn’t do much except stand on the fire escape and take all the credit. It’s better than what most would do I guess, but he shouldn’t act like some glorified hero.

  11. Choice777 says:

if Horia Cretan wouldn’t have opened the window for the kid, then the kid would have been dead by the time the firestruck got there.

  12. diakpoofaman says:

In fact, back to the ’80, the 12 years old then Horia rescued his baby sister from fire in their home in Bucharest, Romania. Unfortunately, their dad could not be saved. Dumnezeu sa te apere, Horia!

im sorry but is everyone missing the real hero here, this guy done a good thing but he is no hero never was he in any real danger, is everyone forgetting the FIREMAN who pulled the child out of the burning building!!!!!!!!!! does he not deserve the hero title, im a firefighter in england and believe me a flat with that much smoke coming out of it is not a place you want to be, so really people lets pay tribute to the real hero of this clip, and not just the good samaritan passer by

    Nice hair.

Ma mir ca nu au zis despre el ca-i ungur! De obicei, media are numai cuvinte “de lauda” despre romani: ca-s tigani, hoti, orfelini etc.
In special, fascistii italieni sunt primii care-i discrimineaza pe romani.

  18. PrinceDracula2008 says:

Bravo Horia! You made all of us Romanians very proud of you back home…

  19. ucrual says:

hello, I’m from Romania. We aren’t as the italian mass media describes us. Those who are trouble makers there are gypsies. romanians are a very altruistic people, and they are different from the gypsies. Such events about romanians saving other people are also in Canada, and in Western Europe.
