Sarah McLachlan – Building A Mystery

25

You come out at night That’s when the energy comes And the dark side’s light And the vampires roam You strut your rasta wear And your suicide poem And a cross from a faith that died Before Jesus came You’re building a mystery You live in a church Where you sleep with voodoo dolls And you won’t give up the search For the ghosts in the halls You wear sandals in the snow And a smile that won’t wash away Can you look out the window Without your shadow getting in the way? You’re so beautiful With an edge and a charm and so careful When I’m in your arms Cause you’re working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Yeah you’re working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully You woke up screaming aloud A prayer from your secret god You feed off our fears And hold back your tears, oh Give us a tantrum And a know it all grin Just when we need one When the evening’s thin Ahh, you’re beautiful A beautiful fucked up man You’re setting up your Razor wire shrine Cause you’re working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Yeah you’re working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully Ooh you’re working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Yeah you’re working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully Yeah you’re working Building a mystery Holding on and holding it in Oh yeah you’re working Building a mystery And choosing so carefully You’re building a mystery

@chanelgirl4ever99 Good for you! That means you are wiser and hell lot smarter than the other kids your age. Thumbs way up for you.

“Integrity”? The only way to hear “the F bomb” is on Surfacing. Both the music video and the radio edits were censored. The video featured on this page is probably zounds’ home-made edit. McLachlan is a mainstream artist, she ain’t no Diamanda Galas, Peaches or Karen Finley.

I’m NOT suprised. McLachlan has a solid education, a strong, sensible grasp on gender relationships, and she’s probably well-read too. This arty person hasn’t emptied all her resources yet. But as long as she’ll stay in the clutches of Sony Music, she’ll remain “only a shadow of the woman (she) should be” (stuart adamson)

@here4family You, my dear, win the most beautiful and thoughtfully worded comment EVER award. Hats off.

@hellonwheels2u By the time this song came out hearing cuss words in a song was no longer new. I still remember listening to the uncensored version of “Longview” by Green Day, which features the F bomb 7 times.

Still kinda surprising to hear one from her, though.

@chanelgirl4ever99 I Love your take on todays music, me dear one.. I”m a product of the 1950′s , 1954 to be exact.. yup old enuff to be yer granddad I guess, But it is refreshing to hear someone your age with a positive spin on how Teris-is-stopable today’s music can be.. Some of today’s rap music, isn’t really music at tall, it’s not played with real instruments. just an electronic beat, white noise created by a transistor, and a coupla of intergrated circuits, one of main reasons why so many
