There is no reason the Ambulance had to sail around the Rescue just before hitting the scene. I heard that other siren, and sometimes the sirens drown each other out in the heat of adrenaline. Can quickly become a dangerous situation. The whole scene survival situation in reference to the EMT Bus gives me ajita.
This department welcomes the comments and questions, but refuses to tolerate know-it-all drivers and/or citizens critiquing this video due to ignorance.
Obviously you have never been in that situation, and you have never been hit by a vehicle that has heard your siren and instantly pulled to the right, which as happened in the past. It is a department policy and obviously the safest option, not to mention it is a state law to pull to the right for emergency vehicles. As far as response times, this unit was not the only one responding and we are trained to be defensive drivers, not aggressive drivers
I drive a big rig on my off time and i understand the inabilities to hear sirens and such but he should have done a better job at checking the intersection before moving into it. I guess I would have rather had him do what he did and continue through. If i had to go around him in the intersection it would have created a large blind spot for me and on coming traffic. One of our sirens is like that, but on the others it sends it to yelp mode for 10 seconds or so. But thanks for the info.
umm idk if you know this but if thats a code 3 mastercom when you turn it to yelp hit the man buttton and it goes to hyperyelp and if its on hi-lo it will go to hyperlow just thought you might like to know. oo yea great job 5/5
actually your not suppost to turn right when you have a situation like that because its more dangerous and the people in the left turning lane are suppost to go to the right so good job driver!
That is the dumbest thing i have ever seen practiced in this type of a situation. Not only do you take time off your response by forcing traffic to pull to the right at a stop light when they are stationary and the right lane is free and clear, but you end up driving on the wrong side of the road.where you clearly didnt have to.
at 0:40 why not go around to the right side and cut back?
