Why isn't anyone putting water on the flames through the window? It took 3:17 until the roof was starting to catch fire..In my mind plenty of time to do something

I know exactly what you mean. That's the first thing I said when I watched it. The only thing I can say is that they had to wait for the chief to sound the evacuate the building horn before they could put water on it from the exterior because they would drown their own men that were inside at the time however, I,m sure they could have been doing something. Most of the firefighters that were hanging around were mutual aid men from surrounding towns. All the men inside were from the Norwood FD.

That makes sense. Having send that though, the men inside should've been able to knock it down WAY before it got to the point where it was shooting out the window then to the roof. There was a fire about 3 years ago near my old apartment building which was probably the size this one was at the beginning and our FD able to keep that from even getting anywhere near the point this one got.

I was always taught that "command" should be facing the other way and relying on his officers, rather than staring at it and micromanaging (which becomes "crisis" management) just watch and see. By the way... who ever taught him to set up command directly beneath power lines, especially with sticks up and working nearby. In the spirit of Bugs Bunny, what a maroon!

On the average, there are 100 people a day watching this guy "in action". I hope that some of them are voters and taxpayers. They should be asking some questions.

Hi,

I do live on Austin street. Thanks for the compliment on the video. All the activity early that morning woke me and I went out and shot this video with my little point and shoot canon. I wasn't sure how it would come out because it was so dark but it came out ok.
