I arrived at the fire scene around 11:05pm to see paramedics with a male that appeared to be lifeless. Firefighters were quick knocking down the fire at 69 Donald Ave. Paramedics rushed to a car that was parked behind the burning building. Red Cross arrived around 1:30am to help with the other tennants of the building. Onlookers told me that there was 1 Black male that died in the fire. Codiac RCMP did get in the ambulance to take photos and Coroner was called. More details as they become available. Graphic Video can be viewed at www.liveleak.com

This big bushfire burnt about 1000 ha and was finally controled after 8 days of extreme firefighting by brave men of fazendas Diacuí, Barranco Alto, São João, Campo Novo, Centenário and Caiman.
In 8 days we saw many animals runnig from the flames but not asingle one killed.

Events that occurred in Cannon County October 5, 2009.

Fred and Donna Reed of Cannon County lost all their belongings in the house fire that occurred at 10:30 Monday morning on Wilmouth Creek Road. The older home with hardwood floors caused the fire to be very hot and burn quickly. Their sister Debbie said, Theres a lot of years in there.

Firefighters donned their new air packs and entered the burning structure. Woodbury, Short Mountain and Gassaway Volunteer Fire Departments responded.

The Reeds were able to rescue their momma dog and some pups and their cat.

Firefighters were able to pump water from the nearby creek to supply water to the hoses. Middle Tennessee Electric arrived on the scene to cut the power to the structure.

Their son, Paul Reed, stated, Broken hearts and memories, when talking about his old homeplace.
